Drawn from two readings for the Wedding Mass [Tobit 8 & Song of Songs 8], Love's Noble Purpose is set as a dialogue between husband and wife.
Text comes from Tobiah's beautiful prayer on his wedding night and the wife's imagery in relationship with her beloved.
Begun as two solos [male in G major and female in E-flat Major], the piece ends as a duet on beautifully harmonic "Alleluias." in F Major.
Ideal as a wedding duet, it can also be sung by a 2-part mixed choir, either for a marriage ceremony or on those several times in Ordinary Time when the "marriage" readings are used.
