This text, from Matthew 11:28-30, is often associated with the Sacred Heart.
Indeed it is found in the Gospel for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Year A.
Seattle composer, Henry Lebedinsky, sets this text for two-part mixed choir and organ.
A solo stop is used on the introduction, interludes, and conclusion, and occasionally as a descant melody over the choir.
The choral writing is both imitative and homophonic, singing of comfort and mercy.
This motet would be especially appropriate around the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart [Friday after Corpus Christi], or for any Mass that celebrates comfort and the love of God for us.
