Mass of the Redemption is another very approachable Mass setting by the late Calvert Shenk.
Now updated with the new 2010 translations by Adam Taylor, this is a Mass which engages the congregation for its beauty, the choir for its variety, the organist for its creativity, and the parish in general for its clarity and concise expression.
The three Eucharistic Acclamations (Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen) are through-composed, to be sung by the congregation and choir in unison.
The Kyrie is antiphonal, sung alternately by a cappella choir and congregation.
The Gloria is responsorial, with a refrain for the congregation, and verses sung by unison choir, SATB choir, or tenor (or soprano) soloist.
The format for the Agnus Dei has the choir singing each invocation, with the congregation responding.
