 The Palestrina Award

Elizabeth S.
Bord

recipient of the
1999 Palestrina Award

presented by
CanticaNOVA Publications

angel
E lizabeth Bord is the 1999 recipient of the Palestrina Award. The youngest of six children, Beth was born in Mt. Kisco, NY and spent her childhood first in NY and later in Maine. She graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1981 and from the University of New England with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1985. In the twelve years after graduation, Beth worked for two hospitals and a private practice, and in the process created and supervised two different departments. In 1992, after several years of additional training, she received her Manual Therapy Certification.

In 1991, Beth met Christopher Bord and the two were married four years later. Upon the birth of their daughter Teresa in 1997, Beth left her physical therapy supervisor position to devote her considerable talents and energy to being a full-time Mom. She currently homeschools Teresa while keeping James and Gianna occupied and happy. On Sunday, she and Chris can be found in the church choir loft (literally) juggling the three children while he plays organ and she cantors the Mass. She somehow also manages to find the time to do work for CanticaNOVA Publications and pursues several other interests including cooking, gardening, scrapbooking and knitting.

Beth has been interested in music from childhood, when her father introduced her to a wide variety of classical music, thus inculcating in her his own love of it. From high school on, Beth has been actively involved in music, singing in several choirs and performing in the musicals "Chicago" and "South Pacific". She studied violin for three years and piano for two.

Beth's influence as a part-time member of CanticaNOVA Publications' staff has been extensive. She was heavily involved in proofreading our first published work, the Book of Sung Gospels. From the very beginning, she has assisted in everything from editing to marketing to web design. Her commitment to CanticaNOVA Publications and its goal of providing quality traditional liturgical music is strong and unwavering.

It is our pleasure to thank Beth for the constant help she provides to the rest of us here at CanticaNOVA Publications, and to formally recognize her contribution through this award.
