native of Saginaw, John Ignatowski received his BS (Mus) degree from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, where he studied piano with Julianne VandenWyngaard, organ with George Shirley and composition with Robert Schechtman and Lee Copenhaver.
He is active as a piano technician and as a composer and arranger.
In 1988 John moved to Upper Michigan and has served as Music Director for Holy Name of Mary ProtoCathedral in Sault Ste. Marie, Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Wells, and Saint Peter Cathedral in Marquette.
In Sault Ste. Marie he was Director of the Algoma Festival Choir and a member of the Sault Symphony Orchestra, both in Ontario, Canada.
Since 2007 he has held the position of Director of Sacred Music at Saint Joseph & Saint Patrick Parish in Escanaba, Michigan, where he is principal organist and conductor of the parish choirs and schola cantorum.
