on Naples earned his doctorate in music at the University of Southern California in 1995, studying under Morten Lauridsen and Frank Ticheli.
In the International Year of the Organ Composition Competition, his Reach for the Stars, for organ and oboe took third place, behind entries from England and Germany.
Dr. Naples is Organist/Choir Director at Saint Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Oceanside, California.
Choirs there include a traditional SATB group that sings for the regular English Masses, and a Schola Cantorum which sings Latin Propers and Ordinaries at a weekly Missa Cantata.
He has worked on commissions from the Millennia Too! and Cillennia Consort ensembles, including Foliage for organ and oboe, and The Call – Canon, an arrangement of Vaughan Williams' song The Call for organ and brass quintet.
A CD of Naples' compositions, called My November Guest, was produced and sung by baritone James Anest.
Jon Naples lives in Carlsbad, California, with his wife Cathy.
He teaches piano, organ, guitar and composition in his home studio and serves on the board of directors for the Palomar Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
He is also a practitioner of the marital art, Aikido.
