athleen Pluth, a San Diego CA native, is Director of Music and Youth at Saint Louis Church in Alexandria VA.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts from Saint John's College (Santa Fe NM & Annapolis MD) and M.A. in Theology from The Catholic University of America.
Ms. Pluth enjoys combining her writing skill with her interest in theology and liturgy to produce new hymn texts for the Church.
Her heroes in this field include Saint Ephrem (307-373), Saint John of the Cross (1542-1591), George Herbert (1593-1632),
Charles Wesley (1707-1788), Father F.W. Faber (1814-1863) and Catherine Winkworth (1827-1878).
Her theological influences include Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), Henri Cardinal de Lubac (1896-1991), Yves Cardinal Congar (1904-1995), and the documents of Vatican Council II (1963-1965).
Ms. Pluth writes, "I would like to think that in this age, so dominated by the image, God the Holy Spirit also has images to offer, of a life transcending and elevating this one.
Our times call for a renewal of religious art: human beings communicating with one another, in full faith, vigorously, about the hope that is ours in Christ."
