Semler

oss Semler is the Director of Sacred Music and Liturgy at Saint John University Parish, which serves West Virginia University and downtown Morgantown. He is the founder, organist, and conductor of Saint John's Masterworks Chorale, a thirty-person choir of volunteer college students and young adults, specializing in music of the Roman Catholic liturgical tradition. Saint John's is also the home of Holy Innocents Youth Chorus and Ensemble Gratia for winds and organ. As Director at Saint John Parish, Ross hosts the Annual Choir Gala, which raises money for college students with an interest in serving the Church as musicians and music directors. Fundraising from the Gala has provided music and liturgy internships and sent multiple students to summer programs in sacred music such as the CMAA Summer Colloquium.

Ross previously served as Director of Sacred Music at Saint Leo Catholic Church in Inwood, WV, from 2018 to 2022. Before entering parish music full-time, he taught private lessons on an extensive list of instruments in Purcellville, VA, while serving as a sound engineer at the Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown, MD. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Shepherd University where he studied saxophone, composition, and choral music.

Mr. Semler is a husband and father of three. Ross and his wife, Cara, are the founders of the Bingen School of Music. The school provides comprehensive music education to homeschool families and communities in the Morgantown area. He is also an accomplished finger-style guitarist, tenor soloist, songwriter, and bandleader.
