Grimoaldo
Macchia

G rimoaldo Macchia was born in Rome in 1972. He began his musical studies at the Arts Academy of Rome. Considered one of the most eclectic composers of his generation, he is a pianist, composer, organist, arranger and conductor. He received his degree in composition and piano with honors at the Conservatory F. Morlacchi in Perugia. He continued his studies in organ and orchestral conducting and then earned his degree in Musical Subjects (composition and applied music) at the Conservatory of Perugia, under the mentorship of Professor Stefano Bracci.

As a concert artist, he has performed for such prestigious associations as the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, Roman Academy of Arts, Ministry of Cultural Heritage, and has played at the Festival of Ischia, the Festival of Sacred Music in Rome, the Baroque Festival of Viterbo, Harmonia Festival in Assisi, Einlandung Zum Neujahrsempfamg at the Cultural Heritage Ministry of Berlin, and UniverCity in Perugia. He has recorded for Italian television: including RAI, Mediaset, RAI Vaticano, Radio Vaticana, Tele Padre Pio and Sat 2000.

As organist and choir director he provided music for Masses at the presidential estate of Castel Porziano in the presence of C. A. Ciampi, President of the Italian Republic. He has participated in courses and seminars held by Stefano Gervasoni, William Brunson, Agustin Fernandez, Ennio Nicotra, Egidio Pozzi, Andrea Coen, Ulrike Brand, Gianfranco Lombardi, Danilo Rea.

His compositions have been published by Carrara Editions, GDE Editions, Sonitus, Armelin Music, Setticlavio Editions, Casa Sacchetti, EurArte, Cantique (Netherlands), Kevin Mayhew (Great Britain), Edition Tilli (Finland), Müller & Schade AG (Bern), Wayne Leupold Editions (USA), Fred Bock Music Company (Canada), Goldgruber Editions (Germany), Are Musik Verlags (Germany), Lorenz Corporation (USA), Bardon Musik (Germany), Daniel Kunert Musik (Germany), Erreffe Editions and Ciak 2000.

He works as a pianist and composer with Synth-Orchestra, Ausonia Ensemble, Cantate Domino Quartet, Armoniae Ensemble and Sax-Orgel Duo, and has made several recordings as composer, performer and arranger.

He has served on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission for Sacred Music (Albano) and was Director of the Diocesan Choir of Albano and Organist of the Cathedral of San Pancrazio Martire. He has played for His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. He has also served as Organist at the Katholische Kirche in Arth-Goldau (Switzerland), Organist of the Reformierte Kirche in Birr (Switzerland) and as Organist and Choir Director with the "Italian Mission of Lucerne." He collaborates as Arranger/Pianist with the Gospel Choir Spirit of Hope of Nussbaumen (Switzerland). In June 2018 he completed the DAS (Diploma of Advanced Studies) at the Musik Hochschule der Künste in Zurich.
