During the singing of the Gloria the church bells are rung and then remain silent until the Easter Vigil.

O God, who have called us to participate
in this most sacred Supper,

Antiphons during the Washing of Feet:
This rite is optional- After the Lord had risen from supper,
he poured water into a basin
and began to wash the feet of his disciples:

Reception of the Holy Oils:
The oils may be presented in the Offertory Procession, prior to the bread and wine (or at the beginning of Mass, or at another suitable time).- Presenter of the Oil of the Sick:

- May the sick who are anointed with this oil experience the compassion of Christ and his saving love, in body and soul.

- Through anointing with this oil may our catechumens who are preparing to receive the savings waters of baptism be strengthened by Christ to resist the power of Satan and reject evil in all its forms.

- Through anointing with this perfumed Chrism may children and adults, who are baptized and confirmed, and presbyters, who are ordained, experience the gracious gift of the Holy Spirit.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
