Extraordinary Form Resources
for Masses using the 1962 Missal
compiled by Gary D. Penkala
Many parishes and many parish musicians are now being asked to provide Masses according to the 1962 Missal of Blessed John XXIII.
Informally called the Traditional Latin Mass, the usus antiqiuor or the Tridentine Mass, it is probably best called the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite Mass, for this is how Pope Benedict refers to it most frequently in his Motu proprio Summorum pontificum.
These parishes and musicians may be quite unfamiliar with the requirements (books, vestments, furnishings, music) and rubrics of the older Mass, so plenty of training is necessary.
Hopefully no one is bounding into the 1962 Missal without adequate preparation, which can take quite some time.
Here are some resources that may make the learning period easier.
