Highlights
- Alternating Unison chant and SATB verses
- Classic Latin text
- Early Renaissance flavor
Description
The six Latin verses of this lovely Advent poem are set alternately for small
group (singing the unison chant melody) and SATB choir (singing an original
faux-bourdon setting). This format is very typical of the early Renaissance
composers, particularly in France. With Creator alme siderum, Fr. Buffer
has created a piece quite accessible to the average choir while still
preserving the beauty and counterpoint which the style demand. The composer is a
priest (and organist) of the Diocese of Columbus, and is presently pursuing
post-graduate studies in Rome.
