Use: Christmas
Required Resources: 3-Octave Handbells
This is a very easy handbell arrangement of the classic Christmas carol by Gustav Holst.
The arranger, Frederick Frahm, surrounds the tune with a simple introduction and coda.
The carol appears in treble bell octaves, making it prominently heard.
In addition to straight ringing, the arranger use mallets for some accompaniment patterns.
These, however, could be played as thumb damps or plucks for bell choirs without mallets.
A short and simple piece, In the Bleak Mid-winter would make an effective Christmas piece for a beginning handbell choir.
