Description
This version of Psalm 118 is characterized by the rhythmic drive of the
tuneful refrain "This is the day the Lord has made..." and the sprightly
melody for the cantor's verses. The flute adds a delicate counterpoint in
this setting of the common Responsorial Psalm for the Easter Season.
A common psalm can serve as a great unifying element for a liturgical season
(particularly for Easter, our longest season). Using this setting on
Sundays 1, 3, 5 and 7 of the Easter season can help the congregation
understand the 7th Sunday as an extension of Easter.
