Liturgical Hints & Ideas
In locations where the Solemnity of the Epiphany is always celebrated on January 6, most years the Sunday after January 1 will be The Second Sunday after the Nativity. This Sunday is never seen in the United States, where Epiphany is not a holyday of obligation, and is always transferred to this very Sunday.
It's a shame that it is perpetually suppressed in the U.S. — the Propers and Orations are wonderfully beautiful and profound. The Gospel (Saint John's Prologue) is the same as at the Christmas Mass during the Day. If, for you, Epiphany still falls on the 12th Day of Christmas, then you are doubly fortunate to be able to enjoy this "Second Sunday" celebration as well!
