This exuberant piece is a setting of verses from Psalms 96 and 100 to an easily-sung six-eight melody with an Irish lilt.
Flexible entrance music at its best, this piece can be sung in a number of formats:
- Cantor, congregation and organ
- SSATB voices, congregation and organ
- Congregation alone and organ
To any of these may be added the effective (but optional) trumpet part.
The congregational refrain, "Sing! Sing! Sing to the Lord, Come before Him singing for joy.
Sing! Sing! Sing to the Lord. Sing! Sing to the Lord." is harmonized by SSATB voices.
Verses 1-3 ("1. Serve you the Lord...", "2. Enter His gates..." and "3. Sing to the Lord...") are sung by cantor or unison choir.
The 4th verse, a series of "Alleluias," is set for SSA voices.
A part for B-flat trumpet is included in the octavo.
