Use: General, Festivals
Required Resources: organ
Music for a Festive Occasion, by British composer Tim Knight, contains four pieces that can be used at various places within the same liturgy, or can be used at different times:
- Flourish
- Aria
- Chorale
- Festival Flourish
Aria (#2 above) is written for manuals only, and #1 and #3 suggest optional use of pedal.
The composer has given us music of great versatility – useful for the "pianist-turned-organist" and for the veteran looking for some variety in tone (giving those pedals a rest).
Tim Knight never condescends in writing his superb manual pieces [see also Hambleton Suite]; the music is harmonically engaging and rhythmically interesting.
Festival Flourish (#4) is a full-fledged processional or postlude that calls for a solo reed (a state trumpet would be ideal) and obligatory pedal.
