Using the chant melody Adoro te devote J. David Hart has arranged a communion motet of exquisite beauty and simplicity.
Four verses of English text are set for SATB choir and organ.
The first verse is a cappella unison, with organ bridges between the phrases.
The second verse, a minor third higher, is for soprano solo, with a strict trio in the organ accompaniment.
Verse three, in the original key, uses four-part a cappella choir, singing rich harmonies in alternating meters that enhance the text.
The last verse is unison with a descant, ending with a 5-voice Amen.
Mr. Hart began his professional career at the age of 10.
He has concertized extensively since then, and has served as National Treasurer and Regional Councillor of the American Guild of Organists.
He was Organist and Director of Music at the prestigious Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh PA.
He also has served as Director of Music at the Presbyterian Church in Oakmont PA (that Pittsburgh suburb along the Allegheny River in which CNP is also located).
Mr. Hart currently resides in Florida, from where he travels and concertizes for Johannus Orgelbouw of the Netherlands.
