This easy and useful piece is Fr. Friel's original music, not at all hymn-based.
Written for two-part mixed choir, organ and violin, the easy level of difficulty makes this an ideal piece for the high school choir (or adult choir) to sing for Confirmation or on Pentecost Sunday.
The violin part is playable on flute and the organ part can easily be handled by a competent student.
The text for this octavo is the familiar prayer: "Come, Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created; R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth."
A brief organ introduction opens the work, followed by the prayer sung by choir, with organ and violin accompaniment.
Next comes a brief interlude for violin and organ.
The Versicle/Response is then sung a cappella, followed by a repeat of the prayer and a coda.
